Anyone here wear Scarpa trail shoes or hiking boots? One of the gals I hike with really likes her Scarpa hiking boots. These caught my attention... www.scarpa.com/rush-gtx-men-sThey also come in a mid-level hiker. Just wondering if anyone here has any experience with Scarpa? How did you like them? Are they comparable in fit to La Sportiva? I know a lot of the Italian companies are known for a narrow fit. Thx. Regards, DR

The two pair I bought years ago were narrow but they probably use a different last for each type (categories/models) they make. (I had a look , yes they do : Scarpa develop a last to specifically suit the end use of each boot. As a result, when you step into a SCARPA boot, you can be sure it has been carefully designed to suit you and your activity. Additionally, SCARPA were the first company to develop a purpose made last for women's boots) . Funny thing is that in Italian Scarpa means shoe but it is just a clever but tortuous acronym . "Società Calzaturiera Asolana Riunita Pedemontana Anonima, which means Associated Shoe Manufacturing Company of the Asolo Mountain Area" .

Had some Scarpa mid boots back in the distant past and they were very well made and bombproof. They were also heavy. That was another kind of footwear that was not kind to my heels and the weight also affected a tendon in my knee. I learned a stretch for that I still do twice a day for that. Scarpa is like an old school boot, beautifully made but not necessary for me.

Their old-fashioned mountaineering boots beloved by so many were never the thing for me. I know their current offerings are quite varied, but I rarely see them anywhere to try on. That's pretty much a deal-killer for me, since among boots of the nominally correct size, very few fit me well enough to bother fully doing up the laces when I first step into them.

I’ve seen them at several REIs in my area, so perhaps they’re carried nationwide by REI these days. Happy Trails, DR

Their boot selection is severely impaired due to pandemic, unfortunately. I think it's worse now than ever. Hopefully it will change soon. My last pair of hiking boots is nearly worn out and is also discontinued.

Regarding footwear available for trying on at REI, since October of last year I've been wanting to test fit the Salomon X3 Ultra but it hasn't been in stock during all that time.
Even with free & easy return policy, I'd much rather get my hands on (foot in) the boot before ordering.
I checked online the other day and the boot I want is out of stock, period (can't order at this time).

for approach shoes, i couldn't get my (wide forefoot) feet into Scarpas, whereas La Sportivas (TX3) work for me. My winter boots are Scarpa Invernos, which keep my feet warm but aren't the most comfortable boot out there - heavy and stiff.
i think you have to try footwear on to really know if it works for you. With so much limited to online, that means buy/try/return sometimes. i won't buy from a place that won't accept a return.
