Peregrines were among the Raptors I handled years ago. Watching them stooping is one of my favorite things in the wild. Awesome photos! thanks for sharing.

rebeccad, I kept thinking how great that would look in a garden. Maybe some of the old trees in my area will come down in a lovely, usable configuration instead of just falling over in one long piece that needs to be split up. I love the patina on that driftwood as well...kissed by the sun and wind? It actually appears to be polished.

That artsy driftwood was the end of a huge tree. Both peregrine falcons (male and female) were perched on that tree, 10ft apart: the female (pictured here) was at the roots' end, while the male was sitting on a clump of branches, or should I say their stumps. The tree was so big that it must have been there for a long time, hence its polished nature.
