Hopefully things will be more civil and appropriate concerning tents and backpacks.

Guns on the trail is right up with dogs on the trail, as far as hot button issues go.

Nobody said otherwise. Nobody denied the existence of animal attacks any more than they denied the existence of meteor strikes. We just don't all choose to dig bedrock bunkers in camp each night simply because meteors exist, nor do we tend to set lightning rods in camp even though a lightning strike is more likely than having an animal "chew on our legs." You don't set lightning rods simply because lightning exists, you don't dig bunkers simply because meteors exist, nor carry gas masks because chemical weapons exist, etc. The simple idea that "it exists" is a poor reason to do something, and "to say otherwise wouldn't be truthful." For being hyper-sensitive to having your words allegedly "twisted", a mirror might be the best tool to acquire at the moment. Again, quote me, which you weren't able to do initially, and wouldn't be able to this time either. Seriously?!?! I did just quote you. Take a breather, calm down. Can you quote anyone here who dishonestly "said otherwise" that animal attacks ever happen? When asked whether--after shooting an animal in "protection"--you would track it down to responsibly finish it off, you went into a sanctimonious and slightly absurd tangent about how it wouldn't be your fault and that the animal started it. It wasn't exactly the level-headed response one would expect from someone genuinely interested in taking full responsibility for their actions. Only when pressed again you eventually said "one should ensure the animal is killed as humanely and quickly as possible.", which was nice and at least implies you'd think about doing the right thing, even if you never answered the question directly. You can spare us the self-righteous angry sanctimony; it's not the least bit impressive. No one here need answer to your foot-stomping demands about where the conversation should or shouldn't go.

*EDIT*
I'm certainly thankful most here can hold an adult conversation.

Lol I had to Google the breed too, although I came to the opposite conclusion you did Eco. I have little desire to get one. It would potentially swallow my toddler as a snack before any of us in the house could notice, lol.
