I've recently completed "Walking to Santiago: A How-to Guide for the Novice Camino de Santiago Pilgrim." For those that don't know, the Camino de Santiago, the Way of Saint James, is a network of pilgrimage routes across Europe that converge in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. The most common route begins in the Pyrenees Mountains and goes 500 miles across northern Spain. Many who don't have a month to walk the entire trail begin in Sarria, Spain, a 5-day walk to Santiago. It is a physical and spiritual challenge, and it's the most enjoyable trek I've made - hard hiking by day, plenty of history, culture, wine and friendship. It's a Catholic pilgrimage historically, but people of all faiths and no faith walk the Camino for the adventure and for the cultural experience.
My book contains logistical information to help experienced backpackers make their travel arrangements, and a lot of information about gear choices to help backpackers make the right choices for them and their budget.
If you do purchase the book and find it useful, I'd appreciate if you left a review and told your friends. The Camino is one of the great hikes of the world, and I want to help as many people as possible make their pilgrimage.
It's available on Amazon.
