I went for a short offtrail dayhike up above the Stillwater River Gorge on the North side of the Beartooth (Montana). Nice day, but very windy. This one is looking North down the valley: This is the Stillwater River, above the gorge and below Sioux Charlie Lake: And finally looking South up the valley:

I hope those here who live out near places like this count your blessings. That is all I have to say on this topic!

As Coolkat says, I'm fortunate to be able to live near the Stillwater River gorge, so I went for another off-trail day hike today, this time on the East side. Lodgepole pines and granitoid rocks: Pretty tarn, looking South: Same tarn, looking North: Above the gorge, trail 24 is just visible down along the river:

I went for another off-trail day hike today, this time on the East side. Good for you!! If I lived near country like that my wife would not see me on the weekends. Well, maybe if she joined me.
