Below I'm going to post a couple of pics. One for scale and the other to show what I'm talking about. Just for reference these pictures were taken on the southern shore of Lake Superior in Michigan. They are too big to be a house cat and I think way too small to be a cougar so I'm guessing a bobcat or lynx. However, what I don't understand is the drag mark between the paw prints. Is it some kind of prey it has in it's mouth? These went on for some time until it appears that it tangled with a large coyote (just guessing by tracks). Both dog/coyote/wolf tracks and cat tracks seem to indicate some kind of scuffle but I'm only guessing. Maybe a coyote tried to steal it's catch? Unfortunately I wasn't smart enough to take a video of those tracks. What just occurred to me as another possibility is that maybe it's dragging an injured paw?

I've been talking to someone else and they don't it's an injured paw because the "drag" mark occurs between the paw prints. They are inclined to believe that it is a cat that is "bounding/running" and each time in lands the prey in it's mouth hits the ground. So far this makes the most sense to me. The reason why he thinks the cat is bounding because the paw prints are side by side instead alternating one in front of the other.

Ok new theory on this. Talked with someone about these tracks and they think they are otter tracks with a tail drag and they kind of do appear to be that but there are not enough toes. Otters have 5 and these only have 4 Otter Tracks
