~It was a beautiful day up in the Sierra Nevada mountain range hiking to Horsetail Falls. Horsetail Falls is located in Twin Bridges, California at the edge of Desolation Wilderness. Today I started my hike right off at Pyramid Creek Trailhead right off highway 50. I had full intentions of hiking to the lakes above the falls and do a little fishing but a few dumb mistakes made it not safe for me. I forgot to bring my water filter so by the time I got to the falls I had drank all of my water. I also got a late start and the day got really hot so I decided not to push myself. Better to be safe than sorry. Hopefully next week I will get an earlier start, bring my filter and then we will get a little fishing in. So stay tuned for that in the next week or so.

Good decision-making there . The lakes will be there for another hike. I’ve long wanted to do that one, and probably will in August.

Lots of smoke, but there is some progress being made on the Caldor Fire.
