I would like to create an online push-pin map that I can configure. For example, I'd like to set a pushpin labeled "Dolly Sods" on the Monongahela National Forest.
Then, I'd like to embed this all on a website they way you can embed a YouTube video.
Any leads?

I believe it is possible to use Google Maps API to embed maps with your own overlays for your own website but I am far from sure about this and how it works.
Another way of doing this is with a KML file from Google Earth (or other mapping programs) but this restricts you to people who have full Google Earth (or another map program that supports KML) installed I think.

Cool. I also went to your website. Looks good and I saw the embedded version of the trip map.
It is worth checking out the site just to read your disclaimer. Also the pictures on the site of your clients are well selected. They really set a mood about who can do this (everybody).

Do you realize at one time there were 400 Youtube videos about Dolly Sods?? I've been hiking up there since the 1970's, and the place is ruined because of internet posts. I wish they would go back to a strict permit system. It was peaceful then............
