it was just a stupid oversight on my part Those are always the worst injuries, as they hurt in two different ways.

Sorry about the injury, Brad, looks extremely painful. Hope it heals up quickly, and hope you're able to get back on the trail soon.

Yikes! Having made us look at that, you owe it to us to tell the story. LOL - Yeah, I didn't put up the graphic ones. Unfortunately, no gnome carving or sword play was involve - or any kind of tool. Was on my jobsite directing guys installing a heavy powder coated steel facia piece when I tripped over a stubbed up black iron gas pipe with a pressure test valve on top of it. The valves have little brass nipples sticking out of them and one butterflied me like a pork chop. The hospital was fairly close by which was a bonus. If that had been a piece of rebar sticking up I'd have had it covered... it was just a stupid oversight on my part not to have it covered, and of course I paid the price for that mistake. For bragging rights I asked the doc to count up the stitches when he'd finished. 7 deep and 26 at the surface - :D Jeez. Sounds like a classic Hungry move. I’ve maimed myself with absent minded acts more times than I can recall. Sorry for your misfortune. Sounds like you will heal up just fine and have a story to tell. Get well soon!

Bit by a shark while surfing in Hawaii would have been a much better story! But it's true-those slight mis-steps which lead to injury can be painful, mentally and physically. Like when you trip and fall on a perfectly flat trail. (Me). Hey-Brian Leetch (Hockey player) fractured his ankle stepping off a curb in NYC. Hope you heal swiftly.

it by a shark while surfing in Hawaii would have been a much better story! Right? I was thinking a story involving a wolverine, mountain lion, and/or bear. ANYTHING but the truth!

So this weekend I decided to replace the roof on an old woodshed up at our cabin. The old roof was crummy sheet metal, with each corner turned up so that you would slash your forehead open as you walked by. Real class.
After the shock of buying CDX plywood for the roof at $125 a sheet, I put on the plywood and shingles. No need to curl up the edges here, since we were closing off that side of the shed, and nobody would be walking through there.
Except me, while I was building it. I managed to give myself a nasty gash in the head on the end of one of the eaves, while I was was closing off the wall. Pure genius.
