Hi all, Planning an 8-day backpacking trip with friends in mid-October. We have averaged 15-18 miles/day on mixed terrain in the past. The unpredictability of the weather this time of year is our biggest concern in picking a location, however. Is northern Ca (Trinity Alps in particular) too snowy this time of year? Any recommendations for a 120-140 mile stretch? Any and all advice welcome, thanks!

October should be safe weather still and relatively stable. You might have a chance to get a dusting or two possibly.
And...Welcome to the forum. Drop in the Trailhead and introduce yourself. Be warned that you will be asked about your thoughts on beets, kilts, and the like. You know, serious stuff.
