Back in th day, I used a thermarest chair kit with th pro lite 4 series pads...But with th purchase of a 25 in Neoair xlite pad( th chair kit is 13 oz AND since th pad isn’t nearly as robust as my older ones n th chair kit isn’t either) I’ve started lookin at some of th lightweight chairs out there.
I am looking for lightweight, comfortable and well built ( sturdy) chairs..I’m at 213 lbs currently..
That said.....what are y’all’s experiences with th lighter chairs?
thanks, John

The two I've heard the most about are the REI and the Helinox. I am an ultralighter, so my perspective is from hearing about the best of the lightest chairs on the market. Both of these are close to one pound. I suggest getting yourself to an REI or outdoors store where you can try them on.
Personally, I never made the leap to adding the weight of a chair, even a UL one. When I bring it, I will sit on my bear canister as a stool, on other trips just a thin piece of foam on a log or rock.

A buddy of mine got me an "ultralight" chair. It has four legs and a full back which I appreciate. If I'm going to haul the weight of a chair, it better be damn comfy. The one I got is reasonable enough that it will go on shorter hikes with me. I think it weighs roughly one pound. I'm not sure about the weight capacity.

I have an REI flexlite which has the same problem as the Helinox and every chair of that type:
Unless you're on rock or very hard ground, the legs will sink into the ground and you'll tip over.
The best product to remedy this is Chair Buddies from the UK. I haven't tried them, but in all my searches they appear to be the best product.

There were earlier threads on this subject but I can't find them. Maybe the mods can help.

I don't carry a chair backpacking mostly because I've never felt the need for one to be worth the weight. But I do have a Helinox Chair One that I've had for 4 years that goes with me on float trips and car camping. I originally bought it for a 3-week Grand Canyon rafting trip -- all the guys were taking bets on when it would fail but it survived the trip just fine and outlived many of their cheap Walmart/Target ones. I've been really impressed with its durability. It weighs 2 pounds. Helinox has a lighter version (the Zero) that weighs a pound. I think both are rated to 300 lb.
I have an older REI version as well that's my "guest chair". They look very similar but the REI version doesn't go together as easily and isn't as comfortable to sit in.

I have a Helinox. 17 ounces. Like it a lot. Kinda low to the ground, but perfect height for food prep, star gazing and just dozing off.

I have an Alite Monarch Butterfly chair-- I LOVE it. But NOT a good choice for anyone with creaky knees, and I'm not sure what the max weight it will hold is...

Does it come with a trekking pole in the form of a scepter?

Only a serf would think of melding a trekking pole with a scepter.

Not at all. I need lots of them to carry my robes, wigs, hats, etc. And to take care of my horses. You may carry my cast iron kettle.
