I've been on the hunt for a replacement shelter for my Golite Shangri-La 5 for some time now. I was going to pull the trigger on a Black Diamond Megalight...but I'm seeing a few other options out there.
I am not looking for recommendations more than I am just looking for other Teepee options. I've looked at the hyperlite also.
I've considered just constructing my own from scratch...but I'd prefer starting with a pre-built that I can modify instead.

Thank you HSF. I'll take a close look at them. I miss being able to stand up and change clothes in the winter.

Thank you HSF. I'll take a close look at them. I miss being able to stand up and change clothes in the winter. Absolutely. In other seasons I tend to much more of the cloth coffin shelter, bigger than a bivy but not by much as I don’t spend much more time inside than sleeping with the short nights. Winter with those long dark intervals I absolutely want more “living” space. I’ve had 2 MegaMids sort of forever for on the snow. Palatial solo shelter but heck, I’m worth it. 🙂 Heck my car camping shelter? A SiX person REI... lol ETA: I’ve had a DCF SoloMid for maybe six or seven years now for non bug season and it’s a great, well built, shelter. And iirc there are more MLD users in the forum who can chime in with experience.

I'm loving the guyouts on the MLD. Definitely going to take a closer look at this.

And iirc there are more MLD users in the forum who can chime in with experience. I have a Duomid in Silnylon, and love it. Top quality construction. On a recent trip to the Guadalupe Mountains it stood up to wind gusts I estimated as pushing 80 mph (I didn't sleep much, but the shelter held). It would not be cheap, but for a tarp the size of the Supermid, I think the DCF would be well worth it, to minimize sag and save weight.

FWIW, I have an older Solomid (even smaller than the current version), in silnylon, and love it. It's a true single person tent and there's no possible way of standing up in it, but I like it. As with the larger versions, it has extra guyouts on the panels if needed.
So, just a vote for MLD quality, I suppose.

I can't recommend since I've never owned their tents but I have ordered one of their backpacks. Suppose to be here monday. However, they have lots of tipi tents. seekoutside.com/tipi-tents/
