I agree with the others—you can load it up and it carries fine. My trips are usually in the 5-8 day range. 8 days is fine, but it will be a little stuffed the first couple days.

Thanks everyone! Very helpful. Leaning towards the ULA Circuit or Granite Gear Crown 3. The Crown 3 I can try at a local REI. The Circuit is more a gamble. The lighter weights Gossamer Gear Mariposa 60 and Hyperlight Mountain Gear 3400 Southwest are appealing but comfort and dependability/durability matter more.
There's the usual personal debate as to whether dropping a little less than 1 lb from base weight is worth the cost. That debate's pretty short at the end of a long trip though!

Dropping a pound from base weight is a big win in my book.

Dropping a pound from base weight is a big win in my book. That's what I was thinking, too. A few ounces is a different matter. Of course, it's always a tradeoff: •Durable •Ultralight •Affordable Pick any two.

•Durable •Ultralight •Affordable Pick any two. True! I might add comfort as well. For instance, using a single wall shelter would save about 1/2 lb. But I find condensation frustrating, especially when sheltering from cold winds/rain. Can always drop base by 2 lbs by leaving behind some optional items: Ursack (Can't find good hangs in conifers that dominate below treeline. Even rangers use them in the Winds), Bear spray (unless in Yellowstone, Absaroka or below treeline in northern Winds, etc.) & Water shoes (Still hike in GTX mids cause no non-GTX options fit)

I might be looking into a new pack soon, my current all-purpose pack is a Z55 that is probably about 12 years old, and showing signs of wear. I may well end up with a Circuit. Though I really like the green color of the Robic, I will be considering Ultra as a fabric, for the added durability and water resistance. I'm also considering a Durston Kakwa 55, which is quite a bit more affordable.
