but sometimes that's all that's needed. I've been a little drawn down lately and struggling to beat back the relentless fatigue from chemo drugs and dialysis. With my wife's help, we went to the Lake George Wilderness for a 10 mile walk on icy trails. It was absolutely wonderful to be out. Microspikes were their usual godsend. The first beaver pond yielded some fun. I walked a little down the shore, hoping I could get a better shot. Popped right up in front of me! We stayed at our favorite shelter, we used this one for a trail Thanksgiving a few years ago. This pretty UL system keeps us toasty. It was in the high teens at night. I heard Great Horned, Short eared and Saw-Whet Owls, and a pack of coyotes ran across the pond yipping and kyeeeing away around midnight. Party animals. Lots of woodpeckers, but poor photo ops. I stayed out on the ice quite a bit in a tee shirt. Spring! We did summit one off trail peak up a series of ledges and got a filtered view of the Killington, Vt Peaks, and the Tongue Mt. range on Lake George. We tried out a Mountain House Chile Mac for dinner I picked up on a dividend from EMS. It was darn good. I'll buy it again. I hope this last one isn't too risque, birth of a birch.

That looks fantastic, and I'm so glad you were able to get out.

There's plenty to be said about the health benefits of time in nature. Was in the area about the same time. More relaxing outside of the late spring and summer crowds.
Nice sleeping system. Looks like a Neo Xtherm(?) paired with a Sol Bivvy sack and thermal reflector. Always curious as to how much condensation the newer breathable sacks are. I have a 10F WM bag, so I'm usually ok in a tent with just a Neo Xlite down to the mid-teens.
