yeah .... i sorta been through my zombie-pocolypse phase . . . .. now if they want me, it's okay. y'know? they'll find i'm more trouble than i'm wirt (sic) If the typical slow zombies, all you need is a good pair of jogging shoes ... and slower “friends” Thanks for that info. Got gifted a day pack of theirs and been looking for accessories to keep said smartphone handy for pictures, etc... Must be “seasonal” as couldn’t find them for a month of so..

OK, I have to ask. Where do you carry your cell while Not in the BC? I carry mine in a cargo pocket, and all of my BC pants also have cargo pockets. I carry immediately reachable stuff in them, both in town and the BC. Thus, I can't see adding weight to my pack just to put my cell in. Convince me otherwise.

Non-BC my jeans and shorts front pocket are taut enough and I’m usually not climbing. For BC, on my actual (non-Gossamer Gear) backpack, I use a Gossamer Gear shoulder pouch so it’s handy for pics on the fly and more protected. It’s a tight squeeze with a phone cover but it works/no zipper issues (yet anyways). Before I got it, I fell one night on my previous smartphone against a boulder while the phone was in my cargo pocket and the screen cracked, despite the Lifeproof carrier. It was Mt Hood for my summer up north and was going to Trail Days anyways ... where the company that bought Lifeproof had a booth. The rep said Lifeproof wasn’t really up to that type of force and gave me a replacement... Lifeproof.

When I was searching for molle pouches (attach to hip belt) a couple weeks ago I found several of the "tactical" variety that I considered purchasing. Though not ultralight or particularly waterproof, they come in all shapes & sizes and for the most part are relatively inexpensive. In the end I decided to keep my 20 year old Eagle Creek organizer pouches which, though not ultralight, are very functional and durable. I may modify them with molle strap attachments for better carry on my helpbelt.

That point about risk to the phone when in a cargo pocket is a good one. Given what I did falling on a chapstick in one of those pockets (a very deep and intense bruise that had me limping for a few days), I know the forces can be large!

Q: any chance one of the resident IT Gurus could tell me where the two photos i posted of Fletcher's "office" came from?
i neglected to save the sites and subsequent searches have gained me naught.
thanks

It looks like you uploaded them. I don't see the source location in the metadata.

I have an old Gossamer Gear frontpack that I used a few times on water-lugging trips to help balance the load better. It worked well enough, but I didn't like how big it made me. It's hard enough getting through tight spots with pack on my back. Fore and aft makes it that much harder.
