Fascinating. Thank you for sharing. I love this kind of "stuff". Just the awe to think that 12,000 years ago people were there standing, talking and laughing and touching the rock faces. Imagine if you were there looking now how the whispers of the ancients would touch you. Sorry, my mind went there.

Wow. I’m glad it’s deep in the rainforest—where yahoos can’t come and deface it. I’m sorry my mind goes there, but we’ve had so many places in the US where people have done just that.

An amazing story--amazing find. I share Rebecca's sentiments about the location...but that also means it's too far for me to go to see it. sigh.

Imagine if you were there looking now how the whispers of the ancients would touch you. We can hear their whispers when we see their handiwork. More than twice as far back in time as the oldest Egyptian hieroglyphs, their art has endured. By all means let your mind wander across the ages, to listen.

Same initial thoughts as rebeccad and balzaccom . I would assume but also hope that the archaeologists who discovered the site have applied or taken action for some sort of legal protection of the site as a heritage. Paintings like this always make me wonder about language, what they spoke, how they communicated and the events prompting the paintings. I expect there's a lot to learn about this civilization. It's kind of interesting, perhaps unsettling, to compare their historic methods of recording history with ours. Paintings are so much more colorful, dramatic, and lovely than text messages. I tried unsuccessfully to locate and post the tv premiere and episodes schedule, which apparently is on the BBC channel. If I find out times, I'll post them. This is something I really want to see.

I'm impressed by how neatly drawn the symbols are and how durable the paint has been. Just wow!

Reminds me of the Three Rivers site north of Alamogordo, NM. 21k+ drawings there.

I'm impressed by how neatly drawn the symbols are and how durable the paint has been. Just wow! I suspect that the panel was in use for eons, so the better-looking ones could be comparatively recent.
