This scares me more than most things. A couple of years ago I read about a tick (in CT I think) bite that can kill in 24 hours. I also know someone personally who spent thousands of his own money (after insurance) to recover from Lyme disease. Like a lot of things in life it's not the big things you have to worry about it's the tiny things. www.cdc.gov/ticks/diseases/index.html

Lyme's is horrible. I'm not sure that it compromised my immune system as I was diagnosed with a rare myeloma immediately following it.

As much as I dislike mosquitoes and biting gnats...ticks are my most dreaded pest in the outdoors. Just the thought of a little parasite attaching itself to my skin and hanging on as long as it wants give me the creeps like nothing else.

I never tried it, but have heard a couple of times, that if you dab a bit of ambisol tooth pain med on the tick that it will numb and relax it, thus making it easier to remove.
