Heading out of Rafferty Creek TH along Tioga Road in three weeks and was starting to think about the conditions I might expect. Rafferty is reliable for water but as I continue over into the Merced Drainage I'm thinking I'll run into some gaps: I know along the High Trail the available streams are sparse even in a decent year. The lakes along the upper reaches of the Lyell Fork of the Merced mean water there won't be an issue. Once closer to Blue Lake Pass I'm hoping the elevation and the turf will have left water in some of the cutdown streams for photos if not for drinking. Fletcher and Lewis? Who knows.
Probably the major variable is going to be mosquitos: one report of just north of the road a couple weeks back had them patchy but heavy higher up. Anybody have more recent experience?
