We hiked the north loop of the Pinchot Trail as it meandered through mountain laurel, across streams, and through meadows of blueberry and ferns. White birch trees illuminated the stark forests. We enjoyed the hemlock forests along Painter Creek with several campsites. Spruce trees adorned the trail. The trail then threaded across a forest with ground pine, moss covered logs, and fins of fungi encircling dead trees. My camera battery died, so I couldn't take more photos. We hiked to the windy vista at Big Pine Hill, with stunted oak and pine trees as the sun tried to fight through snow showers. A good hike.
