I checked on Amazon and they want more than $30 for an 8oz MSR can. Wow, that's nuts! I paid $5.95 each for three 8 oz MSR cans. They boxes they came in were still on the floor as the guy was busy stocking the food and cooking section.

Amazon adds $25.00 because of shipping hazardous material.

Amazon adds $25.00 because of shipping hazardous material. That should be shipping and handling on a per-order basis. $25 per can is too much.

I just checked out local Walmart and they have them for $5.75. I don't normally shop at Walmart but I might have to now.

the unit price is the problem I've found that vendors on Amazon sometimes "take a shot" and attempt to get what amounts to a ridiculous price for some things. Once, a few years ago when I was looking around for a Primus Omnilite Ti, I found one on Amazon but it was over $900. The list back then was about $170. With a little searching, I found one for $115. But $900? Only a troll would think that asking for almost 6 times the list price would be a good retail strategy. But they do it. Why Amazon (Jeff Bezos) lets anyone get away with that, I don't know. As an ex-programmer, that would be as easy as doing a check in the software from what must be a huge database of prices in Amazon's cloud of data at the point at which the vendor sets the price. But NO. Be careful of the Coleman that Walmart nominally stocks. Yeah, don't buy butane, or fuels with higher levels of it, unless you want to deal with it. If you're a coronavirus prepper, then, okay, no problem: you'll presumably be inside anyway. :^D

Should have read this thread in June. The usual retail suspects were bone dry. REI employee was clueless to any supply chain oriented explanation. Went to the "cheap" gear store and they were well stocked with this. The percentage of isobutane is 5% less than MSR. I purchased one 3.5 oz. canister. What is the supply outlook going forward? Do you expect a decrease in demand for winter? Thinking ahead to next season.
