This one is wierd. There are only a few more details in the Utah news sources. She was expected to catch a return shuttle on the same day she left, so gone 12 days on what was supposed to be a dayhike. Although she was described as having been found "safe", one of the sources described her as requiring future medical care and being uninsured. There's more to this story than we'll probably ever hear.

Ya. It sounded very strange to me as well when I first read it. It just doesn't sound straight up to me. Lost for almost two weeks in Zion with a massive a search for her underway. Maybe my cynical nature is showing, but it's ittle harrd to believe that she was truly "lost" that long and survived. "Lost" or trying not to be found? Like BigLoad says, there is a lot more to this story than is being told.

There's more to this story than we'll probably ever hear. The stonewalling in the NPS part could signal a mental health issue. Her load sounded more like an overnight, but no report of a wilderness permit... Refused hospital evaluation after 12 plus days “lost”? Peculiar on multiple levels. Nice she survived and no searchers were injured.
