Would have never had a clue that Cuben Fiber was Dyneema. Have a couple of "cuben fiber" backpacks and eight (8) Mammut Contact Dyneema Slings we use for climbing quick draws.

You know I unthinkingly copied the term off the announcement but on rereading it's wrong isn't it? Cuben is/was a structured FABRIC made as a composite of non woven film coupled with a Dyneema fiber reinforcement. Mostly a Mylar film sandwich with the Dyneema threads captured in between. Varying the thread count and the film weight controlled the characteristics of the resulting sheets.

That actually makes more sense as I once slightly tore the "Cuben Fiber" pack against a sharp rock whilst hiding from the sun in GCNP and yet trusting my quick draws to be part of a system to hold a lead climbing fall. Thanks for the clarification.
