It's been cooler and wetter than normal here in the NE. It's been tough on fly fishing (a naturally socially distanced sport). We had to cancel our trip to Dolly Sods and Shenandoah area for next week. Still hopeful we can go to Lake George and southern Adirondacks early June if the black flies don't take over. Warm winter, cool spring. My sleeping bag is stuck in San Jose at WM. I sent it in mid-January for some extra down. I'll need that before going anywhere! Oldbill - hope I'm not too late, Shenandoah NP is closed right now. No access from any roads or trails. and I'm not certain about Dolly Sods. the entries are usually gated until mid May. They're getting snow up there tonight (Friday 5/8).

And... it's snowing. Still hopeful we can go to Lake George and southern Adirondacks early June if the black flies don't take over. LOL! Good luck with that! They are currently pretty bad here in Central NY. We're expecting snow here tonight, too. It will be the latest snow in 65 years, and perhaps the biggest accumulation this late. We might also set a record low for any date in May.

38 here this morning, but no snow, although there's probably some out to the western part of the state. Gonna be cool all week. I might finally get the tomatos transplanted outdoors late next week.

5" on the Vt./NY border. Pretty, but eminently despicable. Brought in hanging plants, used some sheets, likely to lose some flowers.

35F This morning just north of NYC but no snow on the ground.
As an aside my 2nd grade twins are learning about weather. They have to observe and try to predict the weather. I take helping them with these old school tools seriously. I am not sure what they think of that since they know they can get more info (like daddy does day to day) from the internet or asking Alexa. I am tempted to explain to them backpacking in remote areas there may be no internet but if I want to take them there someday I think I should skip that. Not a selling point for the younger generation.
Going to a further aside, my portable HAM radio gets NOAA weather and I listen occasionally. I grew up on the water and the generally reliable weather report in that droning voice when you are living out on the water is oddly comforting to me. Does anyone else still listen to NOAA weather?

I wish I could have visited AZ this spring. Didn't have much of a spring. It went from 70s to 90s to record high high of 106 in just a couple of weeks.

THUNDERSNOW!!!! Of course, I'm outside for work today. Yeah, we're in our eighth week of the third week of March. We got a bit of snow Friday night and flurries all day Saturday. Today it's struggling once again to get out of the 40s.

Yeah, we're in our eighth week of the third week of March.
LOL, you're just beginning to approach what it's like to live in the North-Central Rockies...we're in what we call "Third Winter" (aka spring)! Snowing here in the valley right now. Down in the upper 20's tonight. I've lived here for 23 years and have never not seen snow on the valley floor in May, and sometimes June/July.

61* and thunder showers in and out of The Hole. Looks like a damp week after absolutely wonderful weather for the last week or so. I'm going back to work for limited hours on Wednesday. hoping Saaturday or Sunday is nice enough to drive down to Granite Creek and see if I can hike the Granite Hi-Line's southern Crest.
Stay safe folks!
