I keep seeing these “I found an iPhone along the trail and I’d like to return it, but it’s locked” posts and in poking about discovered a workaround for those iPhone owners who’d like a better shot at getting your device back. Turns out in more recent iOS versions there’s an option for “emergency” to be a selection displayed and available on the lock screen. The info is secured separate from your general contact info so it’s made available “ outside” the security features like the passcode, Touch ID and Face ID. Well, add your OWN contact info as one of the contacts listed and voila! Someone can contact you if they find your iPhone even though it’s locked. You might need to add a duplicate set of contact info in your contact list. “Me” was grayed out, but a second entry was available. www.pcmag.com/how-to/how-to-add-emergency-info-to-your-phones-lock-screen

Thanks for this. I had failed to set up my own Health section as I wasn't aware of all it could be. It now has the info I think an Emergency Responder would want.

Thanks, High Sierra Fan. That was very useful information for yet another old codger!

Lol. Turns out the person on a Green Mountain dayhike that found this last one was out again on the trail and encountered the owner looking for their phone.
Simplest resolution can happen.
