Here is closer picture of them. They are smaller than my pinky fingernail. I'd guess a meadow vole ( Microtus pennsylvanicus) or close relative. See diagram.

Wow Thanks for this @travisnyewood! I would have never guessed a vole. I had completely forgotten about them and the chart you linked to looks almost identical. If it makes any difference this was right beside a large creek. I really need to remember to include details like this in my posts.

I found these (twice) at the edge of my driveway. We live on the outside of a small town, and our neighborhood has coyote, fox, bobcat, a mountain lion, and no doubt raccoon, possum, and skunk. Maybe even ringtail cats as I've seen them elsewhere in the Texas Hill Country. It has small hairs and what looks like seeds in it, and they are a little bigger than peanuts. Anyone have an idea of what's been poohing on my driveway?

Took the wee one to a birds of prey exhibit that had a snake show, along with various other wildlife exhibits, which had a table with a few young zoologists (assuming their credentials) showing tracks, pelts, and skulls of various predators I asked if they were familiar with skat and produced that photo.
In their opinion it was likely a gray fox.
Now I want a few game trail cams as I know we have all sorts of critters in the neighborhood.

In their opinion it was likely a gray fox. Now that is kind of exciting. I'm somewhat jealous. If you get those game cameras set up don't forget about us when you actually capture something.

I know it's not cool to interact with wildlife, but I want to look for fox treats!
I'm a hop, skip, and jump just outside of a small town a short drive outside of Austin and I'm surprised by the number of critters we have out here. Most are a bit deeper in the neighborhood as there's a preserve on the other end, but we get a good bit at our house too. I love lifting my little girl to the kitchen windows so she can see too. She shares my passions for critters which is awesome!

While we eventually caught up to one moose after innumerable tracks and scat, the only signs of black bears we found were a couple faint tracks. Gros Morne, Newfoundland

First off I realize that this is poor picture. Not well defined and faint. I should have taken time to get a better angle. This was taken last month in the Superstitions. I didn't know what to make of it as I thought it looked like some kind of cat but it appeared to only have 3 toes (maybe the rest are faint?). You should be able to click on the picture to make it bigger. 2017 Superstitions Hike 248 by Hiker88, on Flickr

Here is another track from the Superstitions. I'm really curious about this one. It was down in the canyon right by a stream. It's obviously a double track unfortunately but still not like the racoon and possum tracks I'm use to the midwest. Anyone have any idea? 2017 Superstitions Hike 165 by Hiker88, on Flickr

The one above might be a ringtailed cat ... the blurring of the double makes it a bit difficult

might be a ringtailed cat That is what I was wondering. I didn't know they existed until my hike. I would have liked to have seen it. Are they nocturnal like racoons?

Two sets of these tracks in the yard this morning in Michigan, what's your guess? Thanks!
