This is hard news.
I've been planning to retire next year, and have been vaguely and mentally constructing a tour to see all sorts of friends and family around the U.S. over the course of several months after the fact. A retirement tour, if you will. Mark was high on the list, as he'd invited me several times to visit him, even though he knew I lived on the opposite coast. Fishing, hiking, mountains, streams, lakes, and general outdoor companionship with Mark were to comprise one of my last stops before returning home.
It's my loss, no doubt about it.
Damn.

Loved his fishing exploits and his life in TM. Having lived around Mammoth and June Lake in a very happy period of my life, I lived vicariously through him. Having almost went myself from cancer in the past year, it really hits home. RIP, Mark, I'm so sorry I never got to see your art in person or share a piece of water.
