Because of work project schedules, my “summer” vacation will be the end of April. I am thinking of a car-camping , bike-riding week on Cape Cod, to visit the National Seashore and other coastal nature stuff. I have located a campground that is open that early in the season. Any recommendations for bike trails, spots to visit, best hiking, etc?

The rail trails are very nice. I like Woods Hole & Nantucket for day trips. The dunes along the coast near Truro are great. www.nps.gov/caco/index.htmYou’ll be hitting peak daffodil season. daffodilfestival.com/ So reservations as soon as you can could be best. The book The Outermost House is worth a read.

I second the Cape Cod Rail TrailI'm not sure which campground would be open so early. Nickerson? That's pretty far from P-town.

The campground at Nickerson opens about May 9th. I also looked into some hostels in the area, but they open mid-May. I found a private RV-centric campground that has a few tent sites tucked in a corner, and decent off-season rates, in a good location. The site is reportedly a block away from the rail-trail. P-town will still be a driving excursion.
