Yep. That's the stuff alright. Good enough price, too. Shipping is too much, unless they are using Priority.

Thanks, Zeke. I see another listing for the same stuff, 3 yards (which I'll need) and free shipping with Prime. So I can do that.
Got a one-man tent for use in coming years with an odd number of children...unfortunately had to order it so didn't have it for the trip just finished. Even so...light packs. 35 for the spouse, 30 for the kid, and 26 for me, 27 including my camera. 5 days. I like having a kid who can carry more than I do, at long last!

That type of Tyvek (1443R) is a bit lighter and much softer and breathable than the HomeWrap version but not all that waterproof as floor material. Works OK as a fly particularly if one desire breathability over rain protection (Tarptent has the Sublite made with that for that specific use) Still it will protect the floor from dirt. Here is a close up photo of 1443R (bottom left) and two types of Home Wrap (can't remember their numbers, there are several versions...)

Franco, I guess we'll find out if it's adequate. I had assumed it was at least as waterproof as the flimsy footprints they sell for $50 a pop. Actually, if I think it's too light/porous, I will have time to return it and try for the thicker stuff. It (the 1443R) is marketed as groundcloth material.

I'm surprised that no one has suggested Polycryo. It's a little expensive here, but the very same material can be bought at Home Depot advertised as a window covering for substantially less. VERY durable and much lighter than Tyvek.

Ben, do you remember how to spell "Polycryo"? Grant Sible settled our bet a few years back.
I'll take a dark Porter, please.....

I've used both types of Tyvek for tent footprints and they both do the job just fine. The purpose of a footprint isn't to protect the tent floor from water, it is to protect it from dirt, pitch, etc. and punctures. The tent floor provides the 'waterproofness'. That being said, I've found Tyvek to waterproof enough to use as a ground cloth under a sleeping bag when I'm w/o a tent or as a wind shirt/rain jacket.
If you decide to go with the housewrap Tyvek you can wash it in a front loading washer to take the stiffness and 'noise' out of it.

Guys at a home construction site were glad to give me more Tyvek than I needed.
I also weighed a 2-person tent size (about 4x6) blue tarp from the $.99 Only store in comparison to an REI footprint for same size tent. Just a few grams difference. and a big diff in price.

If I knew anywhere that there was construction at that stage around here, I'd go ask! Blue tarp seems a lot heavier/bulkier, if it's the same sort we have for car-camping.

That's what I thought, too - until I compared weights with REI footprint. It is slightly bulkier than Tyvek, but not bulkier than REI footprint.

The blue tarp we have is def. bulkier than the Big Agnes footprint. Haven't checked weight. But I suspect it's a different sort from what you have (maybe about 30 years older, since it's been in use since before we were married).
