Hello,
Does anyone have any experience with these poles? I am considering a purchase to replace my old set from another manufacturer. These would be used for backpacking.
Thanks in advance for your help and advice.
Sincerely,
Randy

I've got a pair and they've been great. No complaints at all. I should qualify this by saying mine are about seven years old so they may not be the same exact model, but they are BDs.

The BD Trail Back Trekking Poles are a reliable trekking pole with Dual FlipLock adjustability. We have multiple pairs of BD poles for ski and winter applications with total product satisfaction.
For hiking we use Leki Speedlock Cristalo's and Corklite's. The Leki Speedlock 2 is comparable to the BD FlipLock. Both bombproof.
The difference is the Leki grip is better suited to our use patterns. In hiking downhill, we tend to palm the grip for stability and to reduce impact to the knees. The BD grips become painful with extended use of a palming technique. Have even experienced a blister or two. The Leki AEROGON grip solved the problem for us. It was a cost/benefit decision. We went with the extra cost for the benefit.
Leki does make trekking poles in the same price range as the BD Trail Back however they do not have the AEROGON Grip we prefer.

I might be making my first trip out west this summer and hike in the "real" mountains but I know my one knee doesn't like going downhill. I don't want to side-track this topic though so if I could twist your arm into answering my question here... bpbasecamp.freeforums.net/thread/1362/trekking-poles-why it would be appreciated.
