I got a new camera for Xmas, so I got to play with it. We also got lucky, because our drive home was clear. We hit the Shasta viewpoint above Yreka at just the right time. And Photobucket is being utterly uncooperative, so I'll come back and post pictures later, when I can get the links (I do regret not being able to post directly from my computer, but I get it. I won't whine. Much).

This probably isn't the kind of winter scene most are expecting to see here but here it goes anyway.

Photobucket is working again, so here's Shasta at sunset on a winter's day:

I played with my macro settings, too, looking at frost on my Mom's deck:

And then, back in CA., we stopped in Chico where I took my fall photos. I shot the same pool again, with a winter feel:

I haven't seen a good snowfall since before Thanksgiving. This was at Johnson Sauk Trail State Park, Illinois. I'm looking forward to more snow this weekend finally. Johnson Sauk Lake by Kevin Palmer, on Flickr

Pretty, Kevin! On our way out of Washington State, we drove through a stretch of freezing fog. It wasn't icy on the road, thank goodness (one of my student drivers was driving), but the trees and bushes were almost that white, and the light was unearthly. I wish I could have captured that, but shooting with a cell phone out the window at 65 MPH...nope.

My striking view of Mt. Marcy from Tabletop this past weekend. It's so stunning, I'm thinking of blowing it up on a full size print and hanging in my living room.
