Last year (2014) we decided to give no stove backpacking a try for the 2015 season. Our early attempt with no stove was not to our liking. We ended up with using the stove at the 10ish AM rest stop to make coffee and for dinner. Overall we used less fuel, most of our trips were of 5 days or more, which allowed us to switch to the smaller sized fuel canister.
We did explore other types of stove options but decided that we want to stick with a shut off valve.
We also bought and tested a piezo igniter for 2015. The piezo igniter worked out quite well. We will be dropping the lighter and matches from our cook kit for 2016; we will each keep an ignition device in our 10E bag.
My wife did manage a 3 day 58.7 mile solo stove-less backpacking trip.
I started ordering food items for next year (2016) keeping with the plan of only using the stove for 10AM coffee and dinner.

Dinner is my only hot meal, and I don't drink hot beverages less I'm in snow. Keep some sort of igniter in your 10E, because piezo igniters have a habit of breaking just when you start to rely on them.
I have considered trying to go completely stove-less, but haven't done it yet. I would have to really stop and think about the comfort of a warm dinner, then consider just how best to replicate that with a non-cook meal. Easier to do here in Florida on a kayak trip, as it is seldom so cool I need a hot meal. Most of those cool experiences are in the AM, when I think I should have oatmeal.

rebeccad tried to warn me, it was the cold mashed potatoes (yuck) that tipped the decision towards having a hot dinner. We were using the cold brew coffee packets, but once we opted back to the stove, stopping for the 10AM hot coffe was put back into our routine. Yea, the 10E igniter will not be a piezo. When my wife did the 58.7 mile, 3 day solo trip by dumping the cook kit, she was able to bring 4 days of food, along with her gear, in a 42L pack.

Coffee in the morning is too pleasant to miss in the morning. So is a hot meal in the evening. I'll take some extra weight for that little luxury.

Going stoveless is definitely a personal decision. Coffee habit makes it pretty tough.
