Permit application submitted successfully for 3rd week in August. IT was crazy slow but we eventually got it in without problems.
Here is what we went for (Took Joey's advice and the first two choices center around Boulder Pass.
1st CHOICE –Bowman Lake to Kintla Lake, Point to Point.
Day One: Bowman Lake foot to Bowman Lake (head) Campground.
Day Two: From Bowman Lake (head) Campground ascend Brown Pass and continue to Hole-in-the-Wall Campground.
Day Three: Hole-in-the-Wall Campground to Boulder Pass Campground. After setting up camp, we will climb Boulder Peak.
Day Four: Day Hikes and climbs in Boulder Pass area, including summit attempt on Mt. Peabody or possibly Gardener Point.
Day Five: Descend from Boulder Pass Campground to Upper Kintla Lake Campground.
Day Six: Upper Kintla Lake Campground to Kintla Lake Trailhead.
2nd CHOICE –Boulder Pass, Out and Back Option
Day One: Kintla Lake Trailhead to Upper Kintla Lake Campground.
Day Two: Upper Kintla Lake Campground to Boulder Pass Campground.
Day Three: Boulder Pass Campground to Hole in the Wall Campground.
Day Four: Hole-in-the-Wall Campground to Boulder Pass Campground.
Day Five:Descend from Boulder Pass Campground to Upper Kintla Lake Campground.
Day Six: Kintla Lake Campground to Kintla Lake Trailhead.
3rd CHOICE –Gunsight Pass/Lincoln Pass Option
Day One: Jackson Glacier Overlook to Gunsight Lake Campground.
Day Two: From Gunsight Lake Campground, to Sperry Campground. Possible sunset climb on Lincoln Peak from the Sperry Campground.
Day Three: From Sperry campground, to Snyder Lakes Campground.
Day Four: From Snyder Lakes Campground, descend to the Lincoln Lake Trailhead, 4.4 miles.
4th CHOICE –Two Medicine Option (Dawson-Pitamakan Loop)
Day One: Two Medicine Trailhead to Upper Two Medicine Lake Campground.
Day Two: Upper Two Medicine Campground to No Name Lake Campground. Day hike options: summit attempts on Mount Hellen or Flinsch Peak
Day Three: No Name Lake Campground over Dawson and Pitamakan Passes and descend to Old Man Lake Campground. Possible side trip up Mount Helen if we don’t tag it the previous day.
Day Four: Descend from Old Man Lake Campground to Two Medicine Trailhead,
We also plan on at least one additional one or two night trip while we are there -we will just have a number of options in mind and see what is available for a walk-in permit.
