With the Woodbury Fire devastating the Superstition Wilderness, I'm considering a backpacking trip to the Mazatzals. Does anyone know what the trail conditions there are? I'll also ask in HikeArizona but if you have any multi-day suggestions, let me know.

Does anyone know what the trail conditions there are? Forum member Westy just finished a thru hike of the Arizona Trail which goes through the Mazatzals. Maybe you could message him about the conditions. In the next few days I'll be posting the second part of my recent road trip which includes the attempt to do an overnight in the Ah-Shi-Sle-Pah study area. It will be in the Trailhead Register.

The Woodbury Fire looks like it could do to the Supes what the Willow Fire did to the Mazatzals.

Willow Fire did to the Mazatzals My only experience with fire in the area is on the Cline Trail to Ballantine Canyon in the Four Peaks. It burned in 2007 (I think) but by 2010 a lot of vegetation had returned. Anyway, I won't be going to the Mazatzals (or Supes) until next March so we'll see how the Woodbury Fire plays out. I have a 15 year old Falcon Guide to the Mazatzals so I imagine the trail system covered in there is no longer valid. Is there a newer guide?
