Yet again, I returned to the Bartlett Mountain Balds. It was a very warm, misty day. The balds were beautiful with the spruce forests, isolation, and the wet white bedrock that had a sheen of silver from the sunlight. The diversity and wildness of this place is incredible. A highlight were the bear paths, with depressions in the soil where the bears have consistently stepped.
On the way down we followed White Brook, the terrain was rugged but the non-stop cascades over moss covered boulders were beautiful. The water was very clear and pristine. White Brook Falls was beautiful. We hoped to check out Spruce Ridge, but we were losing daylight.
Our final stop was impressive Bowman Hollow Falls. The gorge that surrounds the falls is stunning with white cliffs. The creek featured many slides and pools over red bedrock. A great hike.
