Hey everyone, do any of you have experience with multiday hikes that have the option of staying in budget guesthouses/huts/hostels along the way? I have done this in Scotland and in Nepal but would like to try a multiday hike in Slovenia, Austria, Italy or Eastern Europe. I have tried googling routes but honestly I find that there are too many and I would love some advice from people who have actually done some hikes. Thanks!

Hello, we have experience hikinh only in France and Spain and the best budget friendly option is to stay in the campings but that's only if you going to take the tent with you. If you would like to have more information let us know. We've posted several threads here with the ideas for hikes, you can check them out as well.

I might look into Romania. Retezat mountains are beautiful, and there are even some mountain huts that are free to stay in: find my trip report of Romania here: travelslovelife.wordpress.com/2016/09/30/romania-to-retezat/One cool country to explore is also Montenegro, we did a couple of multiday hikes. I have a series of posts of Montenegro here: travelslovelife.wordpress.com/2016/06/28/montenegro-a-fairytale-part-1/We mainly camp in a tent in the wild, and especially in Montenegro finding huts might be challenging. In the more western Europe Pyrenees is a beautiful destination, for example Tour du Canigou: www.tourdelcanigo.com/inici/index.php?lg=fr It is pretty and relatively chill to walk, with plenty of refuges on the go. our slightly altered trip here: travelslovelife.wordpress.com/2018/09/06/hiking-the-pyrenees-canigou-puig-negre/Also something to look into are the Vosges in France, they are less high mountains, giving a beautiful view to the Alps. There are huts to stay in too! And of course the legendary Black Forest in Germany If you would like to explore Finland, have a look at these sites: www.nationalparks.fi/hikinginfinland, in my opinion one of the greatest hikes is this one: www.nationalparks.fi/en/karhunkierrosI happened to find my dear boyfriend from there Great facilities. Huts with firewood and cooking gas and toilets every 15 - 20 km, etc. Rest of Scandinavia has plenty of stuff to offer too. Kungsleden for starters of course, but about these I don't have personal experience. Hopefully this gives you some ideas!

My favourite is the Tour du Mont Blanc in France, Italy and Switzerland. You can stay in dormitory accommodation in mountain huts or in private double.
Regarding Slovenia, I'd recommend Mount Triglav, the highest peak in the country. I've hiked around there but not to it (it's on my bucket list) but know that you can easily turn that into a several day hiking trip.
Enjoy!
