Has anyone dealt with falling arches in their feet? My wife went barefoot a few weeks ago and her foot started hurting. She went to the doctor and they said that the arch is falling and to stay off the foot and it should go back to normal. She has been resting the foot as much as possible and on the advice of the doctor, got her some arch supports for her shoe's. its been about 3 weeks and it has gotten better but still not normal. She is worried that we will not be able to get some miles in this year. Has anyone here had this happen and if so how long did it take to heal?
Thank you in advance

She should ask to visit a podiatrist and/or physical therapist.
She may have plantar fasciitis or related. For me, it only took a pair of shoe inserts to cure my plantar fasciitis but some people require a lot more than that. Regardless she should see a specialist.

She should ask to visit a podiatrist A podiatrist is the way to go. If it's truly fallen arches, it won't get better on its own. When mine collapsed it practically immobilized me, but with custom orthotics I was able to go from barely able to walk to a half marathon personal best in a couple of weeks.

What Rumi said. See a specialist, and be prepared to do some PT, buy custom orthotics, and/or have some pain.
I haven’t been able to go barefoot in years, thanks to chronic PF. My orthotics keep it at bay, but if I skip them for long, I’ll be sorry. With the orthotics, though, I can do things like this last week—40 miles in 3.5 days.

I am 63 years old. For most of my life, I've worn US size 12 mens shoes, now I'm up to a large size 13 in some boots, size 14 in other boots.
My foot doctor prescribed orthotics. My feet hurt after a hike from the the underside to the heels a burning feeling.
What helped me was toe raises that strengthen the feet and calves.
Now its a habit toe raises with morning coffee, before each meal, and in the evening. I built up to 50 toe raises 5 times a day and my feet feel wonderful.
