Welcome! We used to have a series of questions for newcomers. I will try to recall a few.
What is your opinion on: Bacon? Brussel Sprouts? Kilts? I think I'll leave out the hot button ones, like Dogs on the Trail, Pam vs Butter, Fires in the High country, etc... If you see any of these hot items in a discussion, tread carefully. LOL
I can't believe that ole zeke (of all our august members) left out the most important measure of a worthy backpacking companion, your favorite Scotch. :(

Scotch = I'll drink it to be sociable but it's not my preferred method of hydration.
Here is my one fun fact concerning Scotch and myself. While in the military someone offered me a shot of Scotch. Sure! In my head I was thinking "butterscotch" and I was prepared for that taste. I was incorrect.

While in the military someone offered me a shot of Scotch. My first (and last) taste of Scotch was also in the military when someone in the barracks offered me a Scotch and Milk. I puked for hours. Can't stand even the smell, still.

Scotch was a fringe benefit of my summer trip to Scotland. lots of distilleries and tasting. Usually the best ones I couldn't pronounce. I sometimes wonder if they try to name it after finishing a barrel.

I sometimes wonder if they try to name it after finishing a barrel. Could be worse. You could be asking for directions in Wales. Specifically, if you're trying to get to Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.

Funny you should mention Wales, that's where my profile picture was taken, near Snowden.

Welcome aboard from Salt Lake City! Have spent a lot of time in Vandalia and Tipp City near Dayton area. I was in SLC earlier this year for a conference. Didn't get to spend any time doing much else though.
