Hello all. Found this place from a post at Backpacker.com.
For an introduction I'll let you know that I enjoy the outdoors. I like day hikes, bicycling, kayaking, etc. but what I really enjoy is backpack camping. I'm a dad to two kids, one recently graduated college and the other a sophomore. I'm also a coach and will continue to do so until three summers from now and at the point I'll back away from that. I enjoy the outdoors after a fair amount of years away from it. A busy life led to me hitting the scales at over 300lbs at which I had enough and took control of my health. Though I am still heading towards a healthier version of me I am using improved nutrition and a renewed interest in physical activity to get there. I used activities that I used to participate in frequently to get moving and ta-da..... I'm doing the biking, hiking, kayaking and camping as time allows.
I am in what would be considered SouthEast Ohio and am just above Dayton, OH.
Hello. Glad to be here.

Hi there, WonderMonkey! I am originally from NW Ohio, now living out in Colorado. Lots of great places in your neck of the woods to explore. And if you're willing to drive a bit, even better places to explore. Anyway, welcome to the Mad House.

I am in what would be considered SouthEast Ohio and am just above Dayton, OH. Dayton? Southeast Ohio? Hmmm. That means my brother in Lancaster must really be in West Virginia. Welcome, though.

Welcome! We used to have a series of questions for newcomers. I will try to recall a few.
What is your opinion on: Bacon? Brussel Sprouts? Kilts? I think I'll leave out the hot button ones, like Dogs on the Trail, Pam vs Butter, Fires in the High country, etc... If you see any of these hot items in a discussion, tread carefully. LOL

LOL Bacon - Yes. I use a bacon weave on some meats during smoking for the yummy goodness. Brussel Sprouts - Negative. Kilts - If you look as good as YOU do in a kilt, wear it. Dogs on Trail - If the dog and owner are well behaved and clean up after themselves I'm all for it. Pam vs Butter - Love butter and Pam is good but not as good. Fires in the high country - Risky and I wish there was a mind probe to determine who is capable of being responsible with it, much like parenting.
