I for one, would love to hear the howls of wolves echoing in the slick rock canyons of Southern Utah. Let's do it for Ed Abbey. I bet he'd be good with the idea.

Ecosystems do not conform to state lines. So there is no rational basis for limiting the distribution of wildlife species to state lines. Without a doubt, Mexican Gray Wolves historically dispersed into Utah. And other subspecies historically dispersed southward into Arizona and into acknowledged Mexican Gray Wolf historic range.
The notion that state officials should have the power to limit wildlife from crossing state boundaries is outright anti-conservation. It's pathetic that states have the kind of influence to promote such nonsense. The way some Utah politicians talk, it sounds as if they think they should be allowed to outlaw nature. And they are sure to denounce the federal government for not honoring such a pathological fantasy.

I'm sure someone in Salt Lake City is working out the statistics to show how many Utah wolves can't find a job because Mexican wolves (who are probably here illegally) are willing to work for less.

How do they howl in Spanish? Wolves predate European influence in the area.
