If you are looking for a great winter hike I have one for you. The Gila Canyons section of the Arizona National Scenic trail is low elevation, great scenery, good water availability (a big deal in AZ), and easily accessible from the Tucson and Phoenix metro areas. Here's my guide including GPS tracks:

Thanks for posting. Huge difference from my usual East Coast (VA and WV) haunts. Eastern forests can be as close to jungle like as you can imagine.
