I think pork is an underutilized and inexpensive protein source on the trail. In this little video I prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner using commercial dried pork products in scenic Arizona trekking locales. Pretty tasty stuff!!

Thank you! You just added a new protein to my mix; I'll be looking for the package of shredded pork.

I never saw dried pulled pork! That would add some interest and variety to meals, so I will keep an eye out for it when I get home.

I make dehydrated pulled pork for almost every trip. It contributes well to a variety of meals.

I make dehydrated pulled pork for almost every trip. It contributes well to a variety of meals. Come to think of it, I did that with some leftovers and it was fantastic. So all I need to do is buy some really good take-out and not eat all of it...

I have to give a big thumbs up to Simply Shredz. I ate the Original flavor on a recent paddling trip and it was very tasty. Very dry also, so bring along more than one sauce pack from Sonny's. I figure it takes 3 packets of sauce to properly make a sandwich. I also noted that the tuna packets in foil now come pre-mixed and flavored, should you desire to skip a step in lunch prep.
