Found an article that divvies up the types of Achilles problems, so putting it on here as a reference (as a sufferer myself): www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/the-running-blog/2014/oct/28/take-load-off-feet-achilles-tendinopathy-runners-injuryMy own protocol is substituting “regular” bike riding* for anything remotely aerobic for 4 weeks, night boots for 2 weeks +, RICE for any swelling in the Achilles region, and very hard inserts for all shoes, avoiding going barefoot, and even to the point of wearing very supportive shower shoes with an arch. * Note: I found recumbent biking to increase pain, though that may have been technique. Still didn’t want to push into pain with a connective tissue injury... YMMV.

Thanks for this. I'm suffering from some form of tendinitis that is making it very difficult to keep up my schedule of walking exercise. Apparently, I have some reading and consultation with a doctor in my future!
Thanks again.

Did you guys have any luck with those Achilles? If so, what did you do? I have had trouble for a year and a half now. I messed one of mine up playing pickleball. I went to a doctor (a sports medicine specialist at an orthopedic clinic) but did not get it resolved. I can hike a little, but have not backpacked with it. I'm planning on a short overnight trip next weekend to see how it goes.
