trinity, I will take a look. I guess maybe I use my knife differently? It just seems that I've made use of the serrated edge enough times that I find it handy. Just last week-ish on my last hike (trip report coming) I used it to make some scrapings. I suppose I could have done it with a straight edge but the serrated edge made it a bit easier. My current knife has assisted opening and I really enjoy that but I guess it's not really needed. Just kinda a cool "feature".

Admittedly I haven't dived much into the knife world but I am familiar with brands such as Benchmade, Syperco and Sog but I've never heard of this brand. Just wondering if anyone is familiar with them. vargooutdoors.com/products/sobata-398

I don't know anything about their knives.

I carry a gerber big rock knife and a gerber multi tool on my hip when in camp. I’ve had both of them for years.

About a decade ago I bought a Benchmade Mini Griptilian, which I seldom carry backpacking. Good knife, but not exactly ultralight. More often I've had a need for plyers, scissors, and a file, so I bought a Leatherman PS Style, very light with no blade.
Last trip I carried both and used both, at the same time. At the backcountry campsite one of the trees for hanging my hammock had a snarl of thorns near the base. With plyers in one hand I held a stalk, then cut thru it with the serrated edge of the Mini Grip in the other hand. Carefully and methodically I eradicated the thorns.
