Just returned from a week in the Big Ditch. It was supposed to be an R2R2R, but we bailed on the North Rim due to a blizzard and single digit temperatures. Substituted a couple days along Clear Creek trail, my favorite winter spot in the Grand Canyon. This is a perspective of the Canyon you don't see very often, taken from about a mile up Clear Creek from the North Kaibab junction. It's special IMHO because you can see both the Silver and Black bridges, the cottonwoods of Phantom Ranch, and Plateau Point. If you zoom in you can see parts of both the Bright Angel and South Kaibab trails leading to the suspension bridges (may not be possible with the photo posted to the forum): --Kurt

Majestic, and powerful photo. Sounds like a good trip other than the blizzard and frigid temps. I'm glad to read that you avoided that yet had a good experience.

Had the pleasure of a Clear Creek permit in 2012. Fun trip, other than the Kaibab Knee I acquired.

Have tried multiple times to score Clear Creek permit......someday! Really? Never had a problem, but I always go in winter. Majestic, and powerful photo. Sounds like a good trip other than the blizzard and frigid temps. I'm glad to read that you avoided that yet had a good experience. Everyone had a great time. The other two guys were Grand Canyon newbies. Had the pleasure of a Clear Creek permit in 2012. Fun trip, other than the Kaibab Knee I acquired. Yeah, it's not the Clear Creek trail that will do you in, it's getting to/from the TH! --Kurt

zeke, I like your photo as well, especially the staging and the contrast....sturdy rocks and boulders softened by grass and tree branches, literally opening up to the magnificence of centuries old, weathered, natural monuments. Both yours and kwpapke's photos have these qualities...quiet magnificence.
