I am unable to determine whether or not I can walk into Baxter State Park on an established trail, namely the Katahdin Lake Trail. Looking at the map of Baxter, it appears that there's a trail into the park from the East ... unless it somehow just ends at the park border.
The first map from Baxter State Park shows the Katahdin Lake Trail extending out into Katahdin Woods & Waters National Monument.
The second map from Katahdin Woods & Waters shows no such trail, even though from the Baxter map you might extrapolate there's a trailhead somewhere along the loop road by Mile 10 (there's a black dotted line on map 2) or mile 10.7 (a primitive road on map 2).
Does anyone know whether an established trail exists here?
Note: Both maps are from the same company -- Map Adventures.

PS: Logically, this would be the International Appalachian Trail, but I can't say for sure.
