Here is a small gallery: Sunset Trail Walks October 2018
I've slowly gained a bit too much weight over the last few years and now I'm getting back out into the woods in order to lose a bit of it. I haven't been on a good walk through the woods in months and I haven't been on a real hike in probably over a year. I'm also attempting to get ready for a long hike and camp this coming spring, so I only have a few months to relearn my old woods knowledge from 15+ years ago.
I was sort of stuck in a salaried position for a while that just wasn't me. I worked too many hours and eventually ended up on anti-depressants and blood pressure medication. Luckily, a few months back I was able to change jobs. I'm almost completely weened down on my medications (I still need the blood pressure pills), I feel much better, eating better, work fewer hours (for almost the same pay as before) and most importantly (for brownie points) I'm trying to get back out into the woods.
These are just short walks after work, as I'm only about a half an hour or less away from plenty of decent day hiking trails. I chose Sunset Trail because I wanted pictures of the sunset, and also because I had a goal to reach the balanced rock outlook spot and back in less than three hours or so. For some that might be a normal task, but the trail has plenty of steep areas and as I said, I'm out of shape. The full Sunset Trail Loop is about 13 miles long. I was only walking in what is usually called the 3rd section of the trail.

A goofy picture of me pretending to look at the sun. My wife asked how it was going on the trail. I texted this back to her saying my eyes were burning from looking at the sun for too long.
