Hello, Everyone! I am a plein air oil painter and hiker living in Southern Indiana next to Yellowwood State Forest. Needing a regular "forest fix", I go for a hike in the woods every day. I also am an oil painter, backpacking into the forest to paint on location. I specialize in painting the forest in all four seasons. I love being deep in the forest free from the hustle and bustle of the "real" world and free from the EMF pollution that pervades civilization. Glad to get to know you!

Welcome! The woods are a wonderful place to spend time and rejuvenate. If you don't mind, share some photos of your work. Would love to see what you do.

Welcome Char. We are all kindred spirits. Ditto on hoping to see some of your work.
Pardon my ignorance. What is plein air oil painting?

Hi, All!
Thanks for the warm greetings!
Plein air painting is a French term that means "open air" so it means to paint outside in the open air. I backpack my oil painting supplies out into the woods to paint which creates special challenges, for sure. But I have been doing it for a long time and love it!
Well, I am trying to insert an image but it is not working. I am inserting an URL in the picture button to one of my paintings on my website (a web page) but it doesn't seem to be doing anything except copying the html. I went to the page about how to insert images and something about uploading to an online site, PhotoBucket, but I don't have time for that right now. Also read a warning about some bugs on the website and I just spent a couple of hours removing and reinstalling Adobe Photoshop on my computer because it has not been acting right the past 2-3 weeks so I do not want to risk catching another bug! I guess the best I can do for now is include a link to my website and let you look around. www.CharleneMarsh.com Whenever I figure out how to post images on this forum, I'll add a few.
Happy trails!
- - - bp2go says: bugs on the website? I have no idea what that's about. But here is the URL of your paining placed with the Insert Image button: Here is the code: [img alt=" " src="http://www.charlenemarsh.com/020513%2016x12%20ADJ%2072%20dpi%20sold.jpg" style="max-width:100%;"]
And so here is your painting. Very nice work!

Hello hello,
We often find nature lovers and creativity go together. We have a lot of artists here, painters, carvers, writers, photographers, musicians. The old forum used to have a random art thread at one time. Maybe you will inspire us to bring it back.

Welcome, Char! You do nice work, and it's not easy hauling that stuff, not to mention sitting in the woods in winter temps to paint the pictures! And here I usually consider it too much to carry my mini traveling watercolor kit (OTOH: if my results looked more like yours and less like those of a reasonably coordinated 5-year-old, I'd be more inspired!).
I agree with Echo. We should start a new "random art" thread to go with the "random photos" thread.

Welcome. Out of curiosity, what's the weight on your painting kit?

Ok, I did it, and since it will be mostly images, I figured the photo gallery was the logical home for the new random art thread.
