Greetings, everyone!
My name is Alexei and I`m from Eastern Europe. I usually travel around Europe and Kaukaz mountains with my team and next year we are likely to make our first hike in USA. I`m here to learn something about hiking, trails and routes in US, to meet new people, exchange ideas.

Hi Alexei, and welcome. Are you interested in overnight backpacking with a tent and sleeping bag in our wilderness areas and parks? And do you have the equipment and gear for doing that?
Feel free to ask questions.

This site is for American Backpacking, which means carrying everything you might need into the wilderness for an extended stay. Sometimes only overnight, but also sometimes for weeks and months at a time.
In order to help you the most, are you interested in ideas about where to hike, or do you need info on gear? Both?
How about giving us some idea about your group. How old, generally? What kind of exertion are you interested in? How many days? Do you have a time frame? Different seasons in different parts of the US mean totally different climates. Winter in the Rockies might be not much different from Winter in Switzerland, but Winter in Florida is more like Summer in Rome. Summer in Arizona is like the Sahara, almost. Summer in the Rockies means late july to mid Sept, but even then snow can happen occasionally.

Thank you! I`ll get some questions while reading through the forum. Yes, I`ll be planning 8-10 days hike with tents, sleeping bags and all the rest. 75-100 miles long route, I think. Without mountain climbing, I hope We have all the equipment necessary, however, we`ll need to buy gas if fire is not allowed there and, I know, gas is not allowed in the plane.

The group are 25-35 y.o., 10-15 people usually. We plan for May-June 2016.

Awesome. I've learned a lot by meeting people from other countries and cultures. Where do you plan to go when you get to the U.S.?

May- June will mean snow in any high country still. Rockies, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Glacier. Very Hot in places like the Grand Canyon. Might be pleasant on part of the Appalachian Trail. Are you partial to any particular style scenery? Hiking in the trees? Getting above treeline?

What part of the USA are you considering? As zeke said the weather will dictate suggestions. If May and June are solid dates people can focus on recommendations for those months. If your timing is flexible, earlier for the southwest is better and later, for the high Country in Colorado and California, is better.

Welcome, Alexei! Read around here and ask away! As others have noted, the more you tell us about the trip and the participants, the more we can help.
I'll note that in many places, groups are limited to fewer than 12 people, and in some places much smaller. That may be a factor in deciding where to go, as well as timing and weather conditions. What kind of a team are you?

Isle Royale would be a good choice for that time of the year if you don't mind fighting misquotes. And no mountain climbing as you stated. However, as noted above group size is limited to 10. Here is the official guidelines. They take this kind of seriously. When I was there last summer there were two groups that showed up that didn't "know" each other and the rangers must have gotten wind of it because they actually went around asking questions of other people not in the groups.

Greetings Alexei, you'll find some friendly and experienced people that will help with your plans here. In May you will find wildflowers and moderate weather in most of the eastern forests and mountains. It will be getting hot in the South, particularly the deserts of the Southwest by June. The western mountains still have some snow in June, certainly further North like Wyoming, Montana, and Washington. We probably need to know if you plan on visiting several locations for a number of shorter hikes, or looking for a long epic trek where you spend far more time on the trail then traveling around in cars. Good luck with your travel plans.

Epic misspelling of mosquitoes. Not because it is misspelled, but because it is obvious the auto-correct wasn't able to figure out what was meant.

Zeke, thanks for that!! I have to laugh at that. I'll keep my eye open for that from now on.
