Nice blog!
I like how much detail you go into with your Apostle Island trip report, going to have to read it again.
You definitely has me planning on a trip up there now. Do you think it’s the kind of place where one could spend several days exploring the island, including the trailless areas? Or is it pretty dense woods without any reason to go inland from the shore? Any idea what the other islands are like?

Beautiful terrain! Thx for sharing. Thanks for the encouraging words Desertsp and Hungry Jack! Glad you enjoyed my blog and TR. Oak Island can be fantastic for a multi day trip or even up to a week. Those with just backpacks (no sea kayak) will rely on the ferry which runs Tuesday/Friday/Saturday and Sunday. You could move between 4 different spots on the island with designated sites but you could also set up in the woods in the interior in some spots off the trail though there may not be a ton of room but there are areas I noticed where it’s not just dense brush. The trail system cuts across the interior of the island in several places but most of the sights are near the shoreline. Oak Island is very hilly so even away from shore there’s nice scenery and always a chance of spotting bears. The other islands are beautiful as well. Stockton and Outer have great opportunities for backpacking and several other islands have trails as well but smaller networks. There are 8 lighthouses, 3 major sets of sea caves and beautiful beaches all over. There is a good backpacking trail on the mainland too. I’ll be posting a similar trip report as my oak island trip but for Stockton island in the next few weeks. I’m adding trip reports on my site every week lately. If you click on map on the main page it will show an index of all TR’s. Enjoy!
