The Day One photos are really nice! You may not have got any views but the misty conditions look pretty dramatic.

Indeed, the mist gave the day a really special atmosphere. It is a weird feeling when you are just climbing up towards a white void. And when all of a sudden out of it appears the peak of Mytikas, it takes your breath away!

Great report and photos, they really show the dramatic contrast between your two days hiking. I didn't know there were mountains in Greece that prohibit women. My first backpacking trip was on a mountain in Japan where women were not allowed. Didn't like it then and don't like it now, but I try to respect the traditions of other cultures.

Thank you trinity! It is slightly unfair to prohibit the access for women. But it is an ancient monastery of Orthodox Christians, and apparently women disturb their peace to worship.
Athos mountain does look like an amazing place to hike, and they are preparing to change the law in Greece, so that women too would be allowed there! It is highly restricted for men too, and they only allow a limited amount of visitors to enter the area yearly.
